Alberto Juantorena Danger (born November 21, 1950) is a former Cuban athlete athletics. At the 1976 Summer Olympics, became the first athlete to win both the 400 that the 800m.

Born in Santiago de Cuba, Juantorena began playing basketball until he was discovered by a Polish track and field coach, Zygmunt Zabierzowski, who convinced him to devote himself to running. Only a year after he was eliminated in the semifinals of the 400 meters at the Olympics in Monaco in 1972.

became known in later years, winning a gold medal at the Universiade (1973) and a silver in the Pan-American Games of 1975 both in the 400 m. He began to devote himself seriously to 800 m in 1976, but few considered him a serious candidate for Olympic gold that year.

However, Juantorena reached the Olympic final, and led the group for much of the race, concluding with the victory of the world record time of 1.43,50. Three days later he also won the final of the 400. As stated by the ODP
his victories were in the name of the Cuban Revolution.
In an interview, said:''Only people without vision run after money. They Believe They Can Go To The U.S. To Become Millionaires, But They Are empty inside. They are merchandise. We prefer to stay and fight and support our system. We prefer to die here.''
